If you thought ponytail princess Ariana Grande was done supplying the dance floor on Dangerous Woman, you were wrong. “Into You,” her fourth released track (and apparently second single?) off of her third album brings fire to both club and bedroom.
Like some kind of smooth Tinashe “come on” slow burner that meets a wild Kylie Minogue discobanger, Miss Grande sounds like she’s embodying every bit of her “Dangerous Woman” persona.
The pre-chorus is the best part. The melodies are absolutely delicious, one of her best: “Been waiting and waiting for you to make a move, before I make a move” is an earworm through and through. We could probably owe this to pop titan Max Martin and crew’s excellent Swedish ears, but Ariana’s delivery makes the song sound every bit like it was made to be hers. A tiny temptress she remains.
The chorus is also the best part: “A little less conversation and a little more touch my body.” Ari’s damn lucky she’s not a dancer because this is the kind of jam you get down to, but we’ll happily settle for her armography and mini body rolls here — no lie I can’t wait to see what kind of music video and performances she pulls out with this song. Clearly she’s giving “Break Free” a run for its money as electrobanger of the millennium, just more proof that Ariana Grande is the pop princess we needed yet never knew we did.
